How Do I Volunteer?

How Do I Volunteer?

What are the benefits?

Tutoring with MyFreeTutor is virtual. That means that it is done completely online. It is easy to fit into your schedule and you can tutor directly from your office or the comfort of your own home.

What do you need to tutor?

For starters, you need to be confident in your math abilities, especially basic math up through Algebra 1. If this describes you, take our 25 Questions Tutor Qualification Test! It’s open book and includes links to helpful instructional videos in case you need a refresher.

You’ll need to have an hour and a half to two hours to spare per week. Each tutoring session runs for about an hour, and you’ll need some extra time to prep your tutoring lesson. Remember, our students are mostly in high school, so you need that hour to be during the traditional school day!

You also need to get a feel for our MyFreeTutor software. Before your first tutoring session, take a peek at our online training videos and play around with our virtual whiteboard, located on our homepage.

Why wait? Complete the My Free Tutor application today!

Do you want to help to inspire a student, but not have an hour every week to volunteer? Well, you could always join the MyFreeTutor team as a STEM Presenter! Volunteer to speak to a classroom of students about your career in one of the STEM fields! You would talk to students about your background in STEM and include a short hands-on activity or demonstration to engage them and help them understand your career in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. As a STEM Presenter, you can talk to students of all ages about your professional background.
